Shutter Trail is a reader-supported magazine for photographers who travel to Japan with a camera. We publish long-form location files instead of listicles: the train line, the exit, the walking time, the best window of daylight, a suggested lens, and whether a tripod will draw a caretaker's frown.

Regular columns compare film stocks, map secondhand camera shops in Tokyo and Osaka, and list developing labs that accept foreign rolls. A monthly dispatch gathers new files and reader letters.
